Calculate Workers’ Comp
Select this checkbox in the Salary and Fringe Calculation page to calculate Workers' Compensation insurance premiums for employee and vacant position rates.
You may repeat this process as many times as needed. Each time you run the calculations, the new amounts replace any existing ones.
Caution
The Workers' Comp option must be run after the Calculate Salaries option.
Calculating Budgeted Workers' Comp Premiums
The following factors affect the calculation of insurance premiums for Workers' Compensation:
- The gross wages subject to Workers' Comp include the budgeted annual salary, midyear increases, and special pays.
- Rates and special pays are included or excluded from the calculations depending on the Subject to Worker's Comp checkbox in Personnel Budgeting's Pay Code table. If the box is selected, the premium is calculated for the rate or special pay.
- The benefit rate used is taken from Personnel Budgeting's Workers' Comp table. The Workers' Comp code in a rate's Job Class record determines the rate that applies.
The calculated budgeted amount is stored as an employee benefit record. To view the results, run Personnel Budgeting's Distribution Detail Report.
