Salary Negotiations - System Features

The Salary Negotiations System is designed to speed the process of entering employees' pay increases while providing controls to reduce the possibility of errors. As part of this, the Salary Negotiations process enables you to draw on existing data in the Human Resources System to enter hourly and salaried increases. You can also generate projections to check the accuracy of your increases before applying them to employee records.

General Features

  • Uses a single integrated database to protect the integrity of your records. As a result, you can enter data and perform calculations independent of the other systems you use.

  • Interfaces directly with the Human Resources System, drawing on existing payroll information, including employee pay rates, job classes, salary schedules, and other pay-related records. The connection between the two systems ensures consistency while eliminating the need to enter redundant information.

  • Saves considerable time by automating the pay increase process, thereby eliminating the need to enter employees' increases individually.

  • Shares the same security system used by other application systems. This security system enables you to restrict access to specified menu options and records on a user-by-user basis.

  • Provides drop-down lists and help pages for tableverified fields, so that you can quickly look up and select records while entering data.

  • Allows keeping multiple windows displayed for entering, finding, and maintaining records.

Increases for Scheduled Employees

  • Provides two methods for increasing pay rates for employees using salary schedules. You can create new schedules from the rate increases you enter, or you can advance selected employees to the next steps on their schedules. The two methods are often used together but can also be applied separately.

  • Accepts increases as percentages, dollar amounts, or a combination of the two.

  • Allows you to set up individual increases for each step/range in a salary schedule. You can also use a mass entry function for increases that are uniform for either a portion of a schedule or an entire schedule.

  • Projects increases for up to 10 years, including the new year and nine future years. You can enter the same increases for each year projected or apply different increases for individual years.

  • Creates new salary schedules in the Human Resources System. You can then assign these schedules to records in the Job Class table, which in turn applies them to employees' Pay Rate records.

  • Includes options for automatically entering new start and end dates in employees' pay rates and resetting the balance fields used to track cumulative pay amounts over the course of a year.

  • Enables you to include terminated and inactive rates in your projections. This allows you to account for positions that are currently vacant but are expected to be filled.

  • Provides options for simulating the results of your increases, so that you can determine their effects on pay rates and salary schedules without affecting your "live" Human Resources records.

  • Generates reports that enable you to compare current and future salary schedules and analyze cost data and employee statistics for the years projected.

Increases for NonScheduled Employees

  • Provides a single page for adding, changing, deleting, and finding increase information for employees who do not use salary schedules.

  • As with scheduled rates, enables you to define increases as a percentage of the current salary, a flat amount, or a combination of the two.

  • Enables you to directly apply pay increases to the job classes assigned to non-scheduled employees.

  • Generates reports enabling you to compare current and future pay rates and salaries.
