Batch Position Control and Bulk Operations

Use Batch Position Control only during initial implementation to create a large number of positions at once for classes not already operating under Position Control. Batch Position Control lets you enter, validate, and post multiple positions without routing each through the individual position entry workflow.

Batch workflow

Batch Position Control follows a three-step workflow:

  1. Add batch position records with all required information (position details, FTE, distributions, user-defined data).

  2. Run the pre-posting journal to validate batch positions against business rules (valid accounts, distributions totaling 100%, FTE limits).

  3. Run the posting to move validated batch positions to the live Position Control tables.

Best practices

  • Use Batch Position Control for bulk position creation, only for initial setup for a class.

  • Enter user-defined data and qualifications/degrees/certifications in the batch before posting.

  • Review the batch list report before posting to verify the accuracy of the data.
