Cancel an Employee Position Transfer

You can cancel an Employee Position Transfer that has not yet been posted. Canceling stops the transfer process and sets the transfer status to N - Canceled. This action requires security resource 10553.

Cancel a transfer (workflow not enabled)

When Advanced Workflow is not enabled for Employee Position Transfers, you can cancel transfers with the following statuses:

  • C - Needs Correction

  • A - Approved

  1. On the Employee Position Transfer page, enter the Search Criteria to find the required records, and then select Search.

  2. Select the transfer record you want to cancel and select Cancel Transfer.

  3. Select Yes.

The transfer status changes to N - Canceled. Canceled transfers are retained for audit purposes and cannot be edited or resubmitted.

Cancel a transfer (workflow enabled)

When Advanced Workflow is enabled, you can cancel transfers with the following statuses:

  • O - Open

  • A - Approved status

Canceling a transfer that is already in the approval workflow notifies all approvers assigned to the request, including alternate and delegated approvers.

  1. On the Employee Position Transfer page, enter the Search Criteria to find the required records, and then select Search.

  2. Select the transfer record you want to cancel and select Cancel Transfer.

  3. Select Yes.

The system performs the following actions:

  • Sets the transfer status to N - Canceled.

  • Sends a cancellation email notification to all approvers who were assigned to the request, including primary, alternate, and delegated approvers.

  • Records the cancellation in the approval history for the transfer.

Canceled transfers cannot be edited or resubmitted. If the transfer needs to proceed, create a new Employee Position Transfer.

Approved transfers that have already been posted (status X - Posted) cannot be canceled. To reverse a posted transfer, contact your system administrator.

Position Control mode and future pay rates

Before you cancel an Employee Position Transfer, review the available full-time equivalent (FTE) on the destination position. If canceling the transfer would cause the destination position to exceed its authorized FTE, the result depends on the Position Control mode:

  • In Y - Use Position Control mode, the system blocks cancellation.

  • In T - Tracking Mode, the system displays a warning. You must confirm the warning to continue.

If the transfer includes unposted future pay rates, the system warns that canceling the transfer will delete those future pay rates. Confirm the warning only when you want to delete the future pay rates and cancel the transfer.
