Create and Update Future Pay Rates

After an Employee Position Transfer is approved, create future pay rates to finalize the employee's compensation in their new position and post the transfer. When you save the future pay rates, the transfer status changes from A - Approved to X - Posted.

The Create/Update Future Pay Rate action is available only when the transfer status is A - Approved, and you have the required security access. If the button is not visible, contact your system administrator to verify your security resources.

The system performs the following validation:

  • The transfer must be in A - Approved status before future pay rates can be created.

  • A maximum of 20 pay rate records can be created per employee.

  • The employee must still have the From position assignment.

  • Future pay rates cannot be created or updated manually for the FROM position when an open or approved Employee Position Transfer exists for that employee and position. Complete or cancel the transfer before making manual changes to future pay rates for the FROM position.

Create future pay rates from an approved Employee Position Transfer

  1. On the Employee Position Transfer page, enter search criteria to find records, then select Search.

  2. Select the approved transfer record.

  3. Select Create/Update Future Pay Rate.

The Future Pay Rates page opens with the employee's existing pay rate data pre-populated for both the FROM and TO job classes. Review and update the rate details as needed.

  4. If the transfer involves more than one job class, navigate between job classes using the forward and back controls.

  5. Select Accept to confirm each job class.

  6. Select Save to save the future pay rate records.

The transfer status changes to X - Posted.

FTE validation during future pay rate creation

While saving the record, the system checks whether the TO position FTE exceeds the position's available authorized FTE:

  • If the Position Control setting on the Human Resources Profile page is Y - Use Position Control, the system displays a blocking error, and you must reduce the FTE before saving.

  • If the Position Control setting is T - Tracking Mode, the system displays a warning that you can acknowledge and proceed past.

For the full list of FTE validation messages, refer to Employee Position Transfer Errors.
