The Position Control mode is set in the System Modules section on the Human Resources Profile page.
There are three Position Control modes:
N - Do Not Use Position Control
Position Control is not active. Position Control menu items are hidden. No position records can be created or maintained. This is the default setting.
If position records already exist, the system blocks any attempt to change the mode back to N. All Position Control records must be removed before the mode can be set to N.
T - Tracking Mode
When Position Control is in Tracking mode, users are warned if the authorized FTE is exceeded, but the system does not prevent overfilling positions.
Switching from Y - Use Position Control to T - Tracking Mode does not require a system check. The change takes effect immediately. FTE enforcement is relaxed: the system issues warnings for positions that exceed authorized FTE but does not block the overallocation.
Y - Use Position Control
Position Control is fully active. When switching from Tracking (T) to Enabled (Y), the system performs an FTE occupancy check. If any position has a filled FTE exceeding its authorized FTE, the switch is blocked, and the system generates an ExceedAuthorizedFTE.log report listing the affected positions.
When Position Control is set to Y, the authorized FTE cannot be exceeded.
