Professional Development Web Options

The Professional Development web option has two types of users: participants and instructors. This section describes how participants and instructors will access the system's options and provides information on how these options are used.

Participant Options

Once a participant is registered with your organization, they can browse available courses, register for a course, view prior courses, view wait list status, edit personal information, and view course transcripts.

To access these options:

  • An external participant will enter their login information on the Professional Development login page.

  • A participant who is an employee will click the Professional Development link on the Employee Tasks menu in Employee Access Center (EAC).

Following are descriptions of how the menu's options are used:

Browse Courses

Displays the Browse Available Courses page, which allows the participant to enter search criteria to list available courses. For details, refer to Browse Courses.

Course Transcript

Displays the Course Transcript page, where the participant can print a transcript for a given date period. For details, refer to Course Transcript.

Current Registration

Displays the Current Registrations page, which lists courses the participant is currently registered for. This page includes links to the Course Information page, the Instructor/Facilitator Information page, and a Registration Confirmation page. For details, refer to Current Registration.

Personal Information

Displays the Participant Information page, where the participant can view and edit the personal information on record with your organization. This page only applies to external participants. The link will not display if the participant is an employee. For details, refer to Personal Information.

Prior Registration

Displays the Prior Registration page, which lists courses the participant has completed. This page includes links to the Course Information page, the Instructor/Facilitator Information page, a Registration Confirmation page, and a link to print a completed course certificate, if applicable. For details, refer to Prior Registration.

Wait List

Displays the Wait List page, which lists courses the participant is on the wait list for. This page includes links to the Course Information page, the Instructor/Facilitator Information page, and a Registration Confirmation page showing the Waiting status. For details, refer to Wait List.

Instructor Options

Once an instructor is registered with your organization, they can submit courses, view current and prior courses, take course attendance, email class participants, and maintain personal information.

To access these options:

  • An external instructor will enter their login information on the Professional Development login page.

  • An instructor who is an employee will click the Professional Development link on the Employee Tasks menu in Employee Access Center (EAC).

 Following are descriptions of how the menu's options are used:

Attachments

Displays the Document Attachments page, where the instructor can upload attachments which can be viewed by your organization. For details, refer to Attachments.

Complete Course

Displays the Complete Course page, where the instructor can complete a course. This page includes links to the Course Information page and the Complete Course page for the listed courses. For details, refer to Complete Course.

Course Attendance

Displays the Course Attendance page, which allows the instructor to take attendance for current courses. This page includes links to the Course Information page and the Course Class Date/Time page. For details, refer to Course Attendance.

Course Definition

Displays the Course Definition page, where the instructor can edit the course information for their current courses by clicking the course title. For details, refer to Course Definition.

Current Courses

Displays the Current Courses page, which lists the courses the instructor is currently offering. This page includes links to the Course Information page and a link to cancel the course. For details, refer to Current Courses.

Email Notification

Displays the Course Email Notification page, which allows the instructor to email the participants of any current courses. This page includes links to the Course Information page and the Email Notification page. For details, refer to Employee Type Mapping.

Personal Information

Displays the Instructor Information page, where the instructor can view and edit the personal information on record with your organization. This page only applies to external instructors. The link will not display if the instructor is an employee. For details, refer to Personal Information.

Prior Courses

Displays the Prior Courses page, which lists the courses the instructor previously offered and have been completed. This page includes a link to the Course Information page for the listed courses. For details, refer to Prior Courses.

Submit New Course

Displays the Course Definition tab of a new course record, which can then be submitted to your organization for approval. For details, refer to Submit New Course.
