Favorites and Favorites Groups

Overview

A favorites group is a type of panel that can be added to the My Dashboard tab. You can only add favorites groups to My Dashboard. You cannot add them to pre-set dashboards such as Principal, HR Director, or CFO.

Access Favorites

Favorites can be accessed in two ways on the dashboard:

  • Star button (View Favorites)

  • Favorites group panel on My Dashboard (favorites group panels may be named by the user)

Click the star (Favorites) button when available in the toolbar on application pages.

Facts About Favorites Groups

Using favorites groups you can:

  • Name favorites groups.

  • Choose whether or not to display the menu path.

  • Have multiple favorites groups on My Dashboard.

  • Include the same items or pages in multiple favorites groups.

  • Include items from different modules within the same favorites group.

  • Group favorites in any combination, such as by category, job role, or tasks that occur on a regular schedule.

You cannot add the same Favorites Group in more than one panel on My Dashboard.

Customizing Favorites Groups

There are various ways to customize your favorites groups.

Add to a Favorites Group from an Open Page

An open page such as Employee Information or Batch Accounts Payable may display star icons in the icon bar (Add to Favorites, Delete from Favorites, Favorites).

  1. Click the star+ (Add to Favorites) icon.

  2. If desired, edit the Favorite Name. The default will be the page name as it appears in the menu.

  3. Select a Group Name. If no groups exist or if you want to create a new favorites group, click Create Group. Enter a Group Name and click OK.

  4. Click OK to save your changes. A message will appear only if the page is already included in the selected favorites group.

Remove from a Favorites Group from an Open Page

An open page such as Employee Information or Batch Accounts Payable may display star icons in the icon bar (Add to Favorites, Delete from Favorites, Favorites).

  1. Click the star- (Delete from Favorites) icon.

  2. Select the favorites group or groups from which you want to delete the page.

  3. Click OK. Click Yes to confirm.

  4. If the page is the only item in a favorites group, a message will ask if you want to delete the empty group. Select Yes or No as desired.

  5. If the empty group is not deleted, it will be displayed as an option for group selection when adding an item or a panel.

Add an Existing Favorites Group on My Dashboard

After a favorites group has been created, you can add it to the My Dashboard panel.

  1. Click Add a New Panel.

  2. From Favorites, select the desired favorites group.

  3. Click Next. The page will refresh, and the new panel will be displayed.

Add a New Favorites Group on My Dashboard

You can create a new favorites group directly from My Dashboard.

  1. Click Add a New Panel.

  2. Click the Panel Type.

  3. From Favorites, select Create New Favorites Group.

  4. In the Menu Item field, type a few characters of the page name you want to add. Add more characters to reduce search results.

  5. Click + to add the page to the favorites group. It will display in the Favorites Group panel. Repeat the steps until you have the desired results in the group.

  6. To remove an item, from the Favorites Group click X next to the page name.

  7. Click Save. The page will refresh, and the new panel will be displayed.

Using this method, a user can add menu items that do not display the Add Favorite option, such as workflow pages.

Edit a Favorites Group on My Dashboard

When a favorites group is displayed on My Dashboard, you can add or delete items to customize the group without going to the individual pages.

  1. Select the three dots on the desired panel. Choose Edit Favorites Group. A page will open displaying Edit (Favorite Group Name).

  2. To add an item to the group, in the Menu Item field type a few characters of the name of the page you want to add. Adding more characters will reduce search results.

  3. Click + to add the item to the favorites group. It will display in the Favorites Group panel. Repeat the steps until you have the desired items in the group.

  4. To remove an item, from the Favorites Group click X next to the page name.

  5. Click Save. The page will refresh and display the changes.

Display or Hide Menu Paths in a Panel

You can choose whether to display the menu path for each item in a Favorites Group. The menu path is turned off by default.

  1. Select the three dots on the desired panel. Choose Show (Hide) Menu Path for Favorites. Show or Hide displays dependent on your current setting.

  2. Repeat the step to toggle the menu path on or off.

Remove a Favorites Group Panel from My Dashboard

If you remove a panel, the favorites group is not deleted. You can add it to My Dashboard again by following the steps in the Add an Existing Favorites Group on My Dashboard section of this page.

  1. Select the three dots on the desired panel.

  2. Choose Delete Panel.

  3. My Dashboard will refresh, and the panel will not be displayed.
