Position Detail page - Project section

Use the Project section on the Position Detail page to add or view the position's optional project-based expenditure distribution. It complements the Funding section by showing how a portion of the position's costs is allocated across project codes, which typically represent grant-funded programs, special initiatives, or supplemental funding sources that operate alongside the standard organization budget structure.

The Project section is significant for the following reasons:

  • Grant and project tracking: It allows districts to charge a position's salary and benefit costs to specific projects, such as federal or state grants, in addition to or in combination with the standard organization distribution in the Funding section.

  • Employee pay rate alignment: As with the organization distribution, the project distribution flows down to employees' pay rates, ensuring payroll charges are coded correctly at the employee level.

  • Funding Change impact: Updates to the project distribution require a Funding Change request on the Change Request page. When approved, the system triggers a background update to the pay rate distributions for all active occupants.

  • Personnel Budgeting integration: When the Post Positions and Load to Future Pay Rates process is run from Personnel Budgeting, position project distributions can be overwritten to reflect the budgeted project allocations.

This section is optional and can be edited when creating a new record. To update the project distribution on existing records, you must submit a Funding Change request on the Change Request page. Direct editing of the project on the Position Detail page is not permitted.

Project distribution lines are optional. The total cannot exceed 100%, but does not need to equal 100%.
